Alexander Palmieri

Hi, I’m Alex Palmieri, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor. I enjoy working with teens, young adults, and adults. I specialize in working with anxiety and mood disorders, as well as trauma, suicidal ideation, self-injurious behaviors and co-occuring substance use.

I utilize techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing skills to help support my clients working towards their goals and navigating stressors throughout their lives. The experiences we have throughout our lives change the way we see the world and those around us. We work together to help you manage a traumatic experience or a phase in your life that has you doubting who you are, what your plans are, or your purpose in life. The work I do in sessions with my clients is not only meant to help you navigate the experience, problem, or stressful situation that has brought you in for therapy, but to also teach you skills you can use throughout the rest of your life as you continue to navigate life’s stressful events year after year. My goal as your therapist is to provide a comfortable environment for all of my clients to work towards their goals in sessions. I’m here to support you, as your co-pilot on this journey.

Prior to joining LEAP, I’ve worked in community outpatient settings with children, adolescents, young adults and adults throughout Fairfield and New Haven counties, dealing with a wide variety of challenges. I’ve also worked in substance use treatment, as well as in-home intensive therapy programs for children and their families.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, family and my dog. I also enjoy watching sports, and cooking meals with my wife.
