Educational Advocacy
Navigating the world of special education can be overwhelming for parents and guardians. From understanding Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans to attending Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings and advocating for necessary accommodations, the process can feel complex and daunting. At LEAP, our Educational Advocacy services are designed to empower families by providing expert guidance, support, and representation to ensure that every student receives a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) as guaranteed by law. Our experienced Educational Advocates work alongside parents, students, and school districts to promote collaboration, transparency, and the best possible educational outcomes.
What is Educational Advocacy?
Educational Advocacy bridges the gap between families and schools, helping parents and guardians navigate the complex world of special education. Our advocates provide expert knowledge of state and federal education laws, ensuring that students receive the services, accommodations, and supports they are legally entitled to.
The LEAP Approach: How we Help
LEAP’s Educational Advocacy services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each family. We understand that every child learns differently, and our goal is to ensure that every student has equitable access to education and the tools they need to succeed. At LEAP, we help families understand their rights under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. LEAP’s educational advocates assist families with IEP and 504 Plan Support, PPT Meeting Representation, Conflict Resolution and Mediation, Record Reviews and Consultations and Advocacy for New Diagnoses and Transitions.
