Emily Kokas
Licensed Professional Counselor Associate
Hello there, I’m Emily Kokas, a dedicated Licensed Practicing Counselor-Associate, specializing in trauma recovery, ADHD, anxiety, depression, stress management, and life transitions.
In my provision of care, I use an eclectic approach to treatment. I commonly use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Harm Reduction. I also use a person-centered approach with every client to ensure that they feel comfortable and supported.Â
I foster a collaborative environment where I work with the client to understand the connections between past experiences and present challenges, developing strategies to aid emotional regulation, improve everyday function and focus, and to build resilience. In my work with the client, unique experiences are validated and strengths are celebrated.
I also provide LGBTQIA+ affirming and gender-affirming care. I use chosen names and pronouns and understand minority stress.
My Goals Are:
To support clients in discovering their strengths, their motivation to change behavior,
To empower clients to unlock their full potential and become the best versions of themselves,
And to transform the underdog into the champion.
I hold a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I have over 15 years of working with a variety of clients in various settings and supporting individuals through their mental health journeys.
Prior to working at LEAP, I gained valuable experience in community mental health and the school system, where I had the privilege of working with neurodivergent individuals to help them achieve both their mental health and functional goals.
I aim to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions, build insight, and develop coping strategies that promote lasting change and emotional well-being. I believe that mental health is just as important as physical health and deserves the same quality of support.
Outside of work, I enjoy running, yoga, meditation, kickboxing, hiking, going to the beach, cooking, decorating, and going to concerts.
I look forward to working with you and building a more fulfilling future. If you are ready to start making changes towards your journey of wellness, contact me today!
