At LEAP, we believe that every individual deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued. We are deeply committed to providing compassionate, affirming, and specialized mental health care for the LGBTQIA+ community across Connecticut. At LEAP, we approach each client with cultural humility, recognizing the diversity of experiences within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum and providing care that respects individual identities and lived experiences. Our team of licensed therapists, certified coaches, and mental health professionals understand the unique challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals and offer a safe, inclusive space for healing, growth, and self-discovery.
The LEAP Approach: How we Help
LGBTQIA+ individuals often face distinct mental health challenges related to identity, discrimination, family dynamics, and societal pressures. These experiences can contribute to higher rates of anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and suicidal ideation within the community. Some common issues that we treat within the community are Anxiety and Depression, Trauma and PTSD, Identity Exploration, Body Image and Eating Disorders, Relationship and Family Dynamics, Minority Stress and Discrimination. Our top priority is fostering an environment where LGBTQIA+ clients feel supported and understood. LEAP’s therapists and coaches undergo ongoing cultural competency training to ensure that care is respectful, affirming, and aligned with current best practices. We also advocate for inclusivity in our language, documentation, and community partnerships. LEAP uses a range of evidence-based, LGBTQIA+-affirming approaches to support clients on their mental health journeys. Some of which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, Gender-Affirming Therapy, Mindfulness and Stress Reduction, Family Counseling, Relationship Therapy.

Holistic Support and Community Collaboration
We recognize that mental health does not exist in isolation. LEAP collaborates with community organizations, medical providers, and advocacy groups to offer comprehensive support for LGBTQIA+ clients. We can assist with Referrals for Gender-Affirming Medical Care, Legal Resources, Support Groups, Workshops and Webinars.
