Trauma and Stressor Related Disorders
Trauma can result from a wide range of experiences, including abuse, accidents, natural disasters, medical emergencies, loss, or exposure to violence. While not everyone who experiences trauma develops PTSD, some individuals may struggle with ongoing symptoms that interfere with daily life. Trauma can have profound and lasting effects on individuals of all ages, impacting mental health, relationships, and overall quality of life. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other trauma- and stressor-related disorders can disrupt daily functioning and create overwhelming emotional challenges.
The LEAP Approach: How we Help
At LEAP, we offer specialized treatment for PTSD and trauma-related conditions, tailored for children, adolescents, and adults across Connecticut. Our approach emphasizes personalized care, integrating therapy, coaching, and our specialized care coordination team to ensure clients are matched with the right team of providers. Some of the trauma-and-stressor-related disorders that we treat include Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Acute Stress Disorder (ASD), Adjustment Disorders, Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) and Disinhibited Social Engagement Disorder (DSED). At LEAP, we recognize that trauma impacts individuals in different ways. Some clients require clinical therapy to process deep-seated trauma, while others may benefit from coaching to rebuild confidence, establish healthy habits, and navigate life transitions. Some of the evidence-based approaches that we utilize include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Somatic Experiencing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy and Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques.
